With product information’s importance going up across industries, businesses are seriously trying to comprehend the benefits a PIM system has to offer. Omega Code carried out a project to update and implement the Pimcore platform, which is the basis of Enea Operator's website, responsible for the distribution of energy in Poland within this capital group. Enea Operator is one of the four largest energy distributors in Poland.
Business needs
Enea Operator is a subsidiary of one of the largest energy companies in Poland, Enea S.A. based in Poznań. It belongs to the Enea capital group operating in the full value chain of the energy market: hard coal mining; electricity generation; electricity distribution, energy trading. Enea Operator is responsible for the distribution of energy in Poland within this capital group. It is one of the four largest energy distributors in Poland.
The Enea Operator website was created on the basis of the Pimcore platform in version 3.1, which is no longer supported by the manufacturer and is built on the basis of outdated frameworks. Client of Enea S.A. is fully aware of the risks posed by the use of outdated and potentially dangerous solutions and turned to us with a project to migrate the website to Pimcore X.
OmegaCode's solution
As an OmegaCode company with many years of experience in implementing the Pimcore platform, we started work from the Basics. We analyzed the existing version of the website, examined Customer Journey and UX to redesign the website on this basis and implement it on the latest version of Pimcore (10.4 at the time of implementation). At the same time, we have kept all the functionalities of the website, including the backend ones. The new Layout has an intuitive structure, great navigation and meets the latest graphic and UX trends. A well-chosen font and color palette make the website very readable. In this way, we covered the existing technological debt and implemented a version of the system supported by the manufacturer. These actions have also eliminated security gaps in the website.
The entire operation of launching the new website had a negligible impact on Enea Operator's customers, because the existing platform was replaced in the production environment with a new one in just two hours!
We managed to complete this project in accordance with the planned schedule in the agile methodology, while maintaining all existing integrations with internal and external systems built over the years of its operation.
