How we took over the maintenance and development of an online platform in the middle of the client’s IT restructuring, and how we continue to develop it today alongside their teams.
About the client
The client offers protection and investment policies, including unit-linked products. It sells mainly through brokers and agents, and customers can also manage their policies online.
For years, customers and intermediaries had relied on an online portal that had been through several rebrands and generations, yet still ran on legacy technology. The insurer needed a modern successor — just as its own IT department was being restructured.
Legacy technologyThe portal had become difficult and costly to develop any further.
IT in fluxThe client’s IT department was in the middle of a restructure.
Risk of disruptionBrokers and customers rely on these tools every single day.
A steady stream of new productsEvery new product needs new functionality in the systems.
The insurer needed a partner who could take ownership of the systems quickly, keep them running smoothly and carry on developing them.
Without one, any downtime would hit brokers, customers and sales alike.
ContinuityTools that stay up and running, even while changes are under way.
ModernisationA modular platform in place of the legacy portal.
SpeedNew features delivered in step with new products.
A flexible teamSpecialists on hand as and when they’re needed.
We took responsibility for the platform at the most difficult moment, then adapted the way we work together as the client’s IT evolved.
During its IT restructuring, the client handed the platform’s maintenance and development over to us. The tools kept running without interruption.
When the client began rebuilding its in-house IT, our specialists joined its structure. They work in mixed teams as fully fledged members.
Requirements are set by the insurance products department. We deliver the solutions and advise along the way, because we know the client’s business.
We maintain and develop new tools for brokers and customers, keeping pace with the launch of new products.
Once logged in, users see only the modules they have permission to access.
See the platform as a:Brokers show customers how their policy will look over 20 or 30 years: how much capital their premiums will build up and what level of cover they’ll have.
A customer’s history, policies and products, all in one place. Brokers can see whose policy ends in the next year or two, check which current products suit that customer’s situation, and get in touch with a ready-made proposal.
Customers can view their policies and funds, buy and sell units, rebalance their portfolio and apply for an additional policy.
We’ve also rolled out a twin solution for brokers and customers at another life insurer within the same group.
Key sales and servicing tools kept running without interruption, even while the client’s IT was being restructured. Today we develop them hand in hand with the client’s own teams, at the pace its product range demands.
